Jacob is a recent History and French graduate from The University of Manchester. A communications professional and freelance journalist, he has a particular academic interest in how community histories are told and shared, with his undergraduate dissertation on homosexual men's space-making in early-to-mid twentieth-century London.
In 1988, Section 28 made it illegal for local authorities to "promote" homosexuality. For fifteen years, queer people in Britain were legislated into invisibility — but the law couldn't reach the dancefloor, the photocopier, or break those communities down. Loud in the Dark traces the clubs, sounds, communities, culture and resistance across 90s Britain, uncovering the infrastructure queer communities built when institutions failed them.
