The listener is placed within an intimate soundscape, crackling fire, voices and fragments of archival speech from Kwame Ture, Gil Scott Heron and others create space for reflection and storytelling. The journey unfolds through a blend of guitar-band highlife, Afro-fusion and Black electronic music, tracing sonic lineages across the continent and diaspora.
The first half moves slowly, like a growing flame, grounded in the oral tradition of story telling by the fireside and as the show progresses, the energy shifts. The fire builds into a bonfire and the sound opens to reflect movement and release supported by electronic, percussive and expansive soundtrack aiming to carry the listener from introspection into celebration.
