Coco Varda is a Canadian artist, performer, and bedroom-pop producer based in Brighton. After moving to the UK in 2015, drawn by rave culture, British humour, and Wetherspoon’s full English breakfasts, Coco soon began producing music and performing in avant-garde drag and improvisational sonic art scenes. Coco later completed a Master’s in Digital Music and Sound Art, focusing on gender identity in music. A radio presenter since 2019, Coco champions Brighton’s experimental music scene through dreamy, dynamic and DIY sounds.
The Rebel Angels of Brighton explores a selection of works from artists in the city’s underground experimental music scene, featuring an interview and guest set from Brighton-based artist, producer, DJ and event organiser, Vascha. Together with host Coco Varda, they explore DIY ethics, the relationship between experimental music and queer culture, live performance, and rave culture post-COVID, amidst a cost-of-living crisis.
